Prayer to Be Unoffendable

Father, You are slow to anger and rich in love (Psalm 145:8),
and I want to reflect Your heart.

Teach me, O Lord, to walk in the Spirit,
not in the flesh,
so I may not be easily offended,
but instead clothed in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12).

Help me to bear with others and forgive,
as You have forgiven me (Colossians 3:13).
When harsh words or careless actions come,
let me respond with grace seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6),
not bitterness.

Guard my heart above all else (Proverbs 4:23),
so that resentment finds no soil to grow in.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10).

Lord, let me be unoffendable,
not because I am numb or indifferent,
but because I am anchored in You.
Root me so deeply in Your love
that I no longer seek validation from others,
but only from You.

When I am insulted,
remind me: “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you… Rejoice and be glad” (Matthew 5:11–12).
When I am weak and misunderstood,
let me echo Paul: “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10).

Train me, Lord, in the way of Your mercy.
Make me a peacemaker, a bridge builder,
a vessel through whom others see the gentleness of Christ.

I yield my right to be right.
I surrender my instinct to be offended.
I choose love. I choose You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
