Faith Progression: Walking, Dancing, and Thriving Amidst Life’s Waves

The journey of faith is filled with stages, trials, and moments of revelation that, though challenging, lead us closer to God and to a deeper understanding of His purpose for us. This progression can be likened to the story of Peter walking on water in the New Testament, a testament to the power of faith, focus, and the grace of Jesus Christ.

Walking on Water

"Come," Jesus said in Matthew 14:29. Peter steps out of the boat and begins to walk on water towards Jesus. This act alone is a bold leap of faith, a decision to trust Jesus amidst the storm. The boat here symbolizes a place of security and familiarity. But sometimes, we are called to step out of our comfort zones and into the unknown. In that unknown, like Peter, we might realize that with Christ, the seemingly impossible becomes possible.

Matthew 14:29 - "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Walking on Waves in the Sunset

Walking on calm waters is one thing, but walking on waves adds another layer of difficulty. Just as Peter began to sink when he saw the wind and got scared, our faith too can waver when life's challenges become overwhelming.

Matthew 14:30 - But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

Yet, in these moments, we are reminded that even when the path is uncertain, with faith, we can navigate life's tumultuous waves.

Dancing on the Wave

When we are no longer merely surviving the waves but thriving amidst them, we are dancing on them. This represents a deeper level of faith, one where we recognize the beauty in trials and find joy amidst challenges.

James 1:2-3 - Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Hiding in the Eye

In the fiercest of storms, the eye is the calmest part. Similarly, in our most challenging times, we can find peace in Jesus, our solid ground and refuge.

Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Walking in the Eye

Emerging from the safety of the eye, walking in its center represents a serene confidence in God's plan. Even surrounded by chaos, with deepened faith, we can walk with assurance, understanding, and peace.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Life’s trials indeed shape and mold our faith. But as we progress from walking on water to dancing on waves and finally finding solace in the eye of the storm, we are reminded that our faith journey, though challenging, is a beautiful dance orchestrated by the Divine. Each step, a testament to God's unending love and grace.
