Learn from my mistakes
We are shaped as much by our missteps as our victories. This is not a guidebook, but a collection of hard-won wisdom—lessons from listening too late, acting too fast, or trying to lead before I learned to follow.
Leadership Lessons I Had to Learn the Hard Way
Listen. Listen. Listen. Silence often says more than speaking.
Be slow to speak. Wisdom enters through space.
Stop being so task-oriented. Get people-oriented.
Lay low. Follow the lead. Until they let you lead.
If it doesn’t oppose God’s law, you can agree. Respond with discernment.
Gain trust before speaking. Truth lands better when it’s trusted.
Learn how they do it. Then walk with them.
Use wisdom before words.
Be strategic until you understand. Don’t outpace understanding.
Let God handle outcomes. You’re called to manage, not control.
You don’t have to be an extrovert all the time. Restraint is strength.
Communicating with Presence and Purpose
Pace yourself. With your team. With your leaders.
Hold back. Let curiosity grow.
Don’t talk—just act. Actions lead louder.
Stop asking. Sometimes clarity is found in quiet.
Stay humble. Stay with them. Become familiar before becoming influential.
Blend in. Don’t push to stand out too soon.
Laugh. Joy invites connection.
Reflections for the Soul
Your voice can bring war or peace.
Ask: “What should I know?”
Let others lead.
Pray for timing.
Forget what you heard. Be present.
Be personal—selectively.
Enter calm.
Stay neutral in meetings.
Speak to the issue, not the emotion.
Don’t plan your reply. Listen.
Move slowly.
Treat others as new.
Renew the mind.
Pray for equipping.
Be wisely transparent.
Lead with wisdom, then courage.
Recognize hazing for what it is.
Your perception shapes your priorities.
“The way we perceive situations determines how we behave—and the priorities we adopt.”
—A lesson still in the making.
